Josh Todd, Buckcherry and Todd Entertainment

Josh Todd is the frontman of the rock band Buckcherry. This page documents the part of his history for which this site holds primary-source material: the period between Buckcherry's inactivity and his return to the band, when his career was financed through Todd Entertainment LLC, the Nevada company he co-owned 50/50 with investor Todd Meagher.

This is an independent historical and educational page published by Investor Shield. It is not Josh Todd's official website and is not operated, authorised or endorsed by Josh Todd or Buckcherry.

Buckcherry and the 2003 gap

By 2002 Buckcherry was effectively inactive: the band had dissolved, the major-label relationship was gone and there was no touring income behind a relaunch. Josh Todd was pursuing his next move and working as a carpenter. That gap is the starting point of the documented business history on this site, and it is covered in detail in the Buckcherry 2003–2005 transition page.

Todd Entertainment LLC and the partnership with Todd Meagher

Official Nevada Secretary of State records show Todd Entertainment, LLC was formed as a Nevada domestic limited-liability company on February 4, 2003, with Josh Todd and Todd Meagher identified as managing members. Their Todd Entertainment operating agreement, executed June 23, 2003, documents a 50/50 ownership split. Todd contributed rights in existing master recordings β€” Exhibit C identifies 22 masters β€” and committed his professional songwriting, recording and performing services to the company. Meagher contributed the capital: a $218,000 initial cash contribution and, ultimately, more than $800,000 in total funding. The agreement also provided for minimum monthly distributions of $4,000 to each member.

The solo album β€œYou Made Me” (2004)

Todd Entertainment's capital funded the recording operation behind Josh Todd's solo release β€œYou Made Me,” along with studio and production costs, mastering, marketing, touring and business overhead. The company also paid the musicians working with Todd and purchased equipment.

Recording and touring, 2004

The Todd Entertainment-financed project toured and performed internationally. Josh Todd appeared at the Rock Odyssey festival held July 24–25, 2004 at Osaka Dome in Nishi-ku, Osaka, Japan; the engagement was handled by Todd Entertainment's licensed booking agent, Andrew Goodfriend, who collected his commission. During that period Stevie Dacanay moved from guitar tech to guitarist in the project.

Return to Buckcherry and the later dispute

Todd left the venture and returned to Buckcherry. In May 2009 a petition was filed with the California Labor Commissioner under the Talent Agencies Act, docketed as TAC No. 13418, challenging the arrangement governing Todd Entertainment. Todd Entertainment later entered bankruptcy and Meagher purchased company assets from the bankruptcy estate. The full documented account β€” including the Japan turning point, the chronology and the evidence β€” is set out in the full Josh Todd and Todd Meagher case study.
