Editorial Standards and Corrections Policy
Investor Shield publishes a contested history. These are the rules it holds itself to.
Primary sources first
Where a primary document exists, it governs. Dates, ownership percentages, capital figures and entity details are taken from the executed or filed record rather than from press coverage, and the underlying document is linked from the public evidence section. Where press coverage conflicts with a record — several outlets described Todd Meagher as Josh Todd's manager rather than the managing member of a 50/50 LLC — the record is followed and the discrepancy is stated.
How claims are labelled
- Document
- A statement drawn from a filed or executed record — the Nevada formation record, the operating agreement and its amendment, the Labor Commissioner determination.
- Testimony
- A statement made under oath in a proceeding, attributed to the witness who made it.
- Determination
- A finding made by an adjudicating body. Reported as the body's finding, whether or not it favours the investor.
- Recollection
- A firsthand account, most often Todd Meagher's. Introduced with wording such as “according to Meagher” and never presented as an adjudicated fact.
- Allegation
- An unproven claim. Labelled as an allegation and never written as though it had been decided.
Review before publication
Drafting and organisation of this site are AI-assisted; the facts are not. Todd Meagher reviews and approves each factual assertion, figure, date and quotation before it is published, and factual corrections he supplies are applied to every affected page rather than only the page where an error was noticed.
Corrections
If anything here is wrong, we want to correct it. Use the private submission form in the “Just The Facts” section at the foot of the case study and identify the page and the statement at issue. Submissions are received privately; nothing is published automatically and there is no public comment feed. Substantiated corrections are made to the page itself, and pages carry a “last reviewed” date so readers can see when the text was last checked.
Reference pages that are still incomplete are marked as such and are excluded from search indexing until they carry substantive, source-backed content.
What is never published
The confidential settlement agreement and its terms are not published, quoted or described anywhere on this site. Material submitted privately is not republished without the sender's agreement.
