Todd Meagher and the Josh Todd / Todd Entertainment Dispute

Todd Meagher is an entrepreneur and investor who was a 50% owner of Todd Entertainment LLC, the company behind Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd's mid-2000s comeback. Official Nevada Secretary of State records show Todd Entertainment LLC was formed as a Nevada domestic limited-liability company on February 4, 2003, with Todd Meagher and Josh Todd identified as managing members. Their June 23, 2003 Operating Agreement subsequently documented a 50/50 ownership structure.

How much did Todd Meagher invest?

The Operating Agreement documents Meagher's $218,000 initial cash capital contribution. The agreement also contemplated additional capital contributions. Meagher continued financing Todd Entertainment and had funded more than $800,000 by the time Todd left the venture. The $218,000 figure is the initial contractual contribution; the $800,000-plus figure is the total funding ultimately provided. The Operating Agreement itself does not state the $800,000 figure.

The funding covered studio time, production, mastering, marketing, touring and business overhead, along with a $4,000 monthly support provision for Todd, payments to his band, equipment purchases, and certain medical and dental expenses for band members.

Was Todd Meagher just Josh Todd's personal manager?

Todd and Meagher initially had a personal-management agreement. That arrangement was subsequently replaced by the Operating Agreement governing their jointly owned Todd Entertainment LLC. Under that agreement Meagher was a 50% owner, the investor, and the designated Manager of the company โ€” a corporate governance role in an LLC, not a personal talent manager. Several accounts of this dispute have conflated the two relationships; the documentary record distinguishes them.

Live engagements were handled through a licensed booking agent, Andrew Goodfriend.

What each side contributed

Todd contributed recording interests โ€” including the master recordings identified in the agreement โ€” and his professional artistic services. Meagher contributed the capital and assumed the financial risk, and carried the business and administrative responsibility as Manager. They owned the company 50/50.

The dispute

The relationship collapsed and Todd returned to Buckcherry. Todd petitioned the California Labor Commissioner under the Talent Agencies Act, Labor Code ยงยง 1700โ€“1700.47, in the proceeding docketed as TAC No. 13418. Todd Entertainment ultimately entered bankruptcy, and Meagher subsequently purchased Todd Entertainment assets from the bankruptcy estate โ€” a separate expenditure from his original investment. On August 31, 2026, Meagher submitted a formal Request for Correction, Clarification, and Annotation concerning TAC No. 13418 to the California Department of Industrial Relations Talent Agency Unit; DIR acknowledged receipt the same day and a substantive response is pending.
